Imphal, December 24:
The state home department has ordered an inquiry into the case of 49 trained police and Manipur Rifles personnel whose appointment orders had been cancelled on the grounds that they had been appointed wrongly.
The decision to institute the inquiry was taken in a meeting attended by top civil and police officials which was held today at the office of the advisor to the Governor, EN Rammohan.
The inquiry order issued by the IGP (Administration) will find out those responsible for making the appointments of the 49 recruits, who had been rejected after completing the training course saying they do not posses the required height and size of the breast etc.
the appointments of the 49 new recruits had been nullified barely two days before the passing out parade.
All the recruits had completed their training course before they were axed.
The Director General of Police AA Siddiqui told this reporter that the cancellation orders would not be revoked.
He, however, assured that those responsible for their recruitment would be pulled up.
The police chief further said barring the 49 recruits, the rest will be given further training.
